Jack Vern Rodgers, 37 years old, passed away in Anchorage, Alaska on May 7, 2020. He was born to Mitchell Vern and Susan Rodgers, in Murray, Utah. He graduated from Brighton High School in the year 2001. Jack worked in many warehouse positions throughout his adult life and was a skilled forklift operator.
Jack, your two brothers looked up to you and admired you so much. You held your feelings close and could keep a secret. Music was part of your soul and everyday life. You loved old school Metallica but when it came to your hour-long showers it was Dime Bag for sure! You suffered many a blow in those mosh pits and proudly displayed the results.
You loved all sports but soccer was your passion. You were an excellent soccer player throughout your life and we greatly admired your sportsmanship. You knew all the stats, especially Premier Leagues and would record and watch every game and in between you were playing soccer on your PlayStation. You were a huge fan of our home team REAL, and became an integral part of the Riot Brigade Rally team for RSL.
You spent many hours playing disc golf and hacky sac and you couldn’t wait for Sunday’s Drum Circle at Liberty Park. Every time you were with us we got in a circle and kicked the sac together, everyone looking to you to keep it going. You were amazing to watch! You had an incredible gift for gab in any social circle and drawing people into your world. Jack, you had a great desire to settle down and have your own family, and although you didn’t achieve this desire, there were so many children that you cared for who loved and admired you. You gave the best hugs. You had an amazing love for animals and especially dogs. You would go out of your way to take our family dogs for a walk every chance you could. You will forever be loved and missed by all of your family and friends.
Your Dad, Mitchell Vern Rodgers preceded you in death in February of 2018. You are survived by your loving family: Your Moms; Sue Squires Thomas (Troy), and Tammy Rodgers, your brothers, Matt Rodgers (Mandi) and Sean Hensley, your sister, Kristie Kipp (Cody), your amazing lady, Hunter Hubbard, many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
We are so thankful for the folks at the Medical Examiner’s office and Todd Nichols at Legacy Funeral Homes in Anchorage Alaska, and Jenkins-Soffe in South Jordan for their great care and service in helping us bring Jack home.
Jack’s wishes were to be cremated and have no public viewing or service. His family will have a private gathering to celebrate his life.
